When we have could to see all those wonders around ourselves, maybe those things have could be change our perspective and perception of our way of living.

VU BACH LIEN
Việt Nam
-Artist Vu Bach Lien (born 1976, Hanoi), graduated from the University of Industrial Fine Arts, is a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. - Author of 2 solo exhibitions (2008, 2018). - Works are present in the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and many collections in Korea, the US, Norway, Thailand...
I came to the theme of “The Lost Center” with a painful feeling – about a world that is gradually losing its core: the human in its own humanity. My work is an open question about existence, originating from the anxiety in an era where technology and convenience have exceeded the threshold of service to become shackles for emotions. Even Love – the most private and sacred thing of mankind – is gradually digitized, turning into something that can be measured instead of felt.
I chose handmade paper, watercolors and monoprints – raw materials bearing the traces of hands – as a way to hold on to “humanity” amidst the industrial flow.
In the painting are two individuals: one headless – symbolizing the empty
body; the other with a robot motif – the embodiment of artificial intelligence. They are entwined between circles containing a tangled monochrome network – symbolizing the virtual space, where connections are dense but lack real emotions.
I'm not looking for answers, just sharing empathy – with myself, with you, and with those who are struggling to hold on to their lost center.

Do We Still Have Origins?
collage Hanji paper & Dó paper, collagraph printmaking, watercolor. 57x77cm, 2025
The work reflects a deep unease in the digital age, where humans increasingly depend on technology and lose themselves. A headless body and a robotpatterned figure entwine within tangled networks — symbols of distorted love and fading humanity. Through raw, handmade materials, I ask: how much longer can we hold on to our original human essence?

Vu Thu Phong
Vietnam
Artist Vũ Thu Phong is a visual storyteller whose work exudes both lyrical beauty and deep introspection. In her artistic journey, she doesn't merely depict nature; rather, she invites viewers into a space of emotion—where external landscapes echo the inner world of the soul.

The storm
oil on canvas/180x180cm/2023
The painting titled "The Storm" (“Cơn dông”) is a striking example of her sensitive approach. With a soft yet weighty color palette, the artwork captures the moment just before a storm sweeps across a quiet lake. The clouds twist like silk ribbons in shades of grey and blue, hinting at turbulence, while the water remains calm and reflective. A solitary boat rests at the shore, still and waiting—like a silent witness to nature’s quiet upheaval. Vũ Thu Phong’s paintings are never loud or dramatic, yet they resonate with subtle emotional depth. They speak of solitude, of our silent connection to the world around us, and of fleeting moments of stillness that each of us has known.

peaceful morning
watercolor on silk\70 x 50 cm\ 2025
I draw what is most familiar and closest to me !!!
Works “Peaceful Morning”, “Pink Room”, “And Sweet Memories” Part of the “Peaceful Memories” series of paintings inspired by the author’s own feelings about the familiar things around him in his daily life.
Early mornings, quiet moments of looking at the surrounding living space, nature, grass, trees, flowers, listening to the sound of roosters crowing, the sound of cuckoos, the sound of white-rumped shama calling each other, the chirping of sparrows nesting right in front of the house… things that seem very simple but we often forget due to the busy, urgent life or are overwhelmed by the sound of vehicles, the noise of construction sites, houses under construction. Things that today we think we only see in the memories of our childhood, in our hometown. Nature still exists around us, always very close, if we listen calmly, live a little slower, we can feel it.

Harvest day
Oil on canvas/80x80cm/2023
“Harvest Day” In today’s chaotic world, the “center” feels increasingly lost—not just socially or environmentally, but within ourselves. This painting reflects a return to something essential: the golden rice fields of Vietnam, where time slows down and the soul remembers. The small white house—silent, solitary—anchors the composition as a quiet symbol of home, belonging, and the human need for grounding. Through warm, earthy textures and abstract simplicity, I invite viewers to reflect: what is the center we’ve lost, and where might we find it again?
As an artist, I see “The Lost Center” as a call to return to what truly matters—within ourselves, within nature, and within our shared humanity.
In times of crisis, art becomes a compass. It doesn’t solve the chaos, but it reminds us of presence, of beauty, and of resilience.
My work reflects this belief: that even in silence or solitude, we can find a sense of grounding. Through texture, color, and memory, I search for that lost center—and invite others to do the same.

Invita a desconectar, a parar, a leer, a respirar.

Shape of Life-1
Materials: Mix Media on Canvas, Size: 36" x 36", Year: 2024
Shape of Life-1: The long, different shapes in this painting represent different tools of the Stone Age. At that time, people had to hunt for food. To protect themselves from hunting and predators, people used different types of tools, which were made of animal bones or stones, etc. This is reflected in this painting. There are some textures and abstract shapes in the background of the painting that open the door to the viewer's imagination. It is a kind of abstract expression of experience and feeling rather than reality. By looking at this painting, the viewer will encounter a kind of feeling. Through the shapes, they will understand about the different tools and human life of the Stone Age.

At dawn, when darkness gradually clears, a mysterious purple forest unfolds.
The seasons pass over the scenery flowing in the fog. However, nothing leaves
the forest. This is because the forest holds the secret of healing. Nature is a
place where humans who are alienated by technological advancement can
find comfort. This work is characterized by a pictorial quality that resembles
an oriental painting, but the artist's unique digital drawing technique richly
expresses the mysterious changes in light.

I am a painter and the founder of a small creative studio called *Rosa & Garden*, located in Seogyo-dong, Seoul. My artwork is inspired by everyday life—nature, flowers, and animals—expressing the belief that the Earth belongs not only to humans, but also to all living beings. This time, I am presenting a new piece at the Busan International Environmental Arts Festival, continuing my effort to tell visual stories that honor the harmony between people, animals, and the natural world.
I deeply appreciate and support the Busan International Environmental Arts Festival for creating a platform where art meets ecological awareness. In a time of climate disruption and digital acceleration, such initiatives are more vital than ever. Thank you for giving artists the opportunity to contribute to a global conversation about sustainability and the future of our planet.

Morning in the Amazon
Oil on canvas / 90.9x72.7cm / 2025
This painting was created out of a deep concern for the global environmental crisis and a desire to speak through nature’s quiet beauty. By portraying a thriving rainforest filled with birds of all kinds, I wanted to remind viewers of the rich biodiversity that is rapidly disappearing due to deforestation and climate change. Each bird, each leaf, is a symbol of life we often take for granted. Through this work, I hope to evoke a sense of urgency—but also reverence. The rainforest is not just a distant landscape—it is part of our shared home. This painting is a visual call to protect what still remains, to live with more awareness, and to recognize that nature is not separate from us, but a vital part of who we are.

The lost center
Acrylic on canvas ,size 48 by 36 inches
In this painting, I have show a girl who looks like a queen. She is wearing a crown on her head and holding a lotus flower in her hands. The lotus flower stands for hope. This flower is linked to the ancient Gandhara civilization of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is very important in Buddhism. It is often seen with Buddha and is a part of meditation. That’s why I used the lotus to show hope in this artwork. Behind the queen, there is a golden circle (halo) shining around her head. It shows her purity and peaceful nature.

ZAMAKOY
Reunion Island
Zamakoy is an artist from Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. An adept of improvisation, which plays an important role in his artistic process, he focuses on themes such as cultural transmission, music, and the tropical island universe, with a particular attraction to portraits that embody life and humanity. While his island, Réunion, is a major influence, his artistic universe is not confined to its borders. He explores other shores according to his inspiration, travels, and imagination.
In a world in upheaval, we can find the basis of existence in Mother Nature.
She has survived many a cataclysm, she brings us serenity and beauty, and even if we mistreat her, she knows how to show us the best our Earth has to offer: life and harmony. By reconnecting with her, protecting her and celebrating her through art, we can see what's essential about our planet and where we need to go to reconnect with her.

It's Réunion Island that guides my brush, even when I'm not painting purely Réunionese themes.
It's the energy of Reunion that I try to store in my paintings, with its strong colors, which push me to use paints that are highly charged with quality pigments, the purest possible to make this energy burst onto the walls where they are hung.

The East is Red
Ink on paper 200cm×200cm 2019
《The East is Red》Work Introduction : I am Zhang Minghong, the initiator of the Root-seeking the Great Wall project. My team and I have been exploring the Great Wall for over eleven years, depicting stories of border vicissitudes and descendants of garrison soldiers through my paintings. The Hexi region in northern Gansu features a majestic landscape—sparse populations, interwoven mountains, gobi deserts, and grasslands. Though the Silk Road camels and Great Wall beacons have faded into history, descendants of border guards still till the land in loess gullies. A rattling farm tricycle, loaded with wheat, a farmer's wife, and hopes for the market, bumps along mountain roads. 《The East is Red》 captures dawn when golden light bursts behind a beacon tower, illuminating a speeding tricycle. The vehicle seems to leap as farmers in the cart laugh and exclaim, with a goose formation flying past. The painting’s red sun symbolizes the light of life emerging from farmers’ chapped fingers and weathered wrinkles— a vital force breaking through hardship.

Zobia kulsoom
Pakistan
I am Zobia Kulsoom, a visual artist from Pakistan with a passion for vibrant colors and expressive forms. I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, in 2015. Since then, I have exhibited my work in galleries across Pakistan, showcasing my distinctive abstract style. My art reflects everyday life and its challenges, especially those faced by people in my country. Through bold colors and dynamic shapes, I strive to capture the essence of my subjects while leaving room for interpretation. My pieces are known for their energy and movement, often addressing themes of identity, culture, and social justice. In 2017, I won first prize in photography, followed by the Best Painting Award in 2018 at an event organized by Best Cement Factory. In 2023, I served as a judge at a prestigious painting competition at a federal government college in Rawalpindi, reflecting recognition of my expertise. Beyond art, I’m committed to social impact. I am a certified trainer with the International Labor Organization (ILO), working on the elimination of child labor in Pakistan. This dedication to social causes deeply influences my artistic vision. I am also a skilled graphic designer and illustrator, continuously exploring new techniques and creative tools. I see art as a powerful medium not just for expression, but for transformation of thought, of emotion, and of society.
BIEAF 2025 ‘The Lost Center: Art in Crisis’ reflects the deep disorientation of our current era. In a world where social, political, and environmental structures are collapsing or shifting, the 'center' once considered stable has been lost. This theme is an invitation to artists to explore chaos, fragmentation, and uncertainty. My interpretation embraces this moment not as a void, but as a space for reimagining truth, balance, and connection through art. In crisis, art becomes both mirror and guide a force that helps us rediscover meaning in a decentralised, complex world.

Untitle
Mix media, 16”x20”inches, 2024
As an abstract painter from Pakistan, my work is inspired by personal struggles, childhood trauma, and the everyday challenges of life. I use bold colors, textures, and shapes to express emotions that words often cannot. My art transforms pain into beauty, inviting viewers to connect, reflect, and find their own meaning. Each piece is not just my story, but a mirror of the shared human experience. Through this visual language, I aim to create space for healing, growth, and emotional dialogue—turning chaos into color, and silence into powerful expression.
