Michelle MEMMI is a self-taught artist born into a Jewish family of Moroccanheritage. Her artistic sensibility is deeply rooted in a rich cultural legacymarked by warmth, vibrant colors, and enduring traditions. Although shedevoted many years to her family and professional career, she always nurtureda profound connection to creativity and a lifelong appreciation for beauty,color, and artistic expression.
In recent years, she has dedicated herself more fully to painting, enabling herartistic practice to flourish and mature. Her work is guided by emotion, witheach painting serving as a reflection of her inner world. As her experiencesand perspectives evolve, so too does her visual language, giving rise to adiverse body of work that explores a wide range of themes and subjects.In 2025, Michelle MEMMI exhibited at the Paris 16th Arrondissement TownHall, the Notre Dame des Artistes (NDA) Gallery, and the prestigious Salond'Automne. She also recently participated in a group exhibition at the NDAGallery celebrating the legacy of Claude Monet.
She is currently preparing for several upcoming exhibitions, including herparticipation in the Salon d'Automne in October 2026.

As the first chapter of a series reinterpreting Isaiah 40:31 through theaesthetics of Minhwa, this piece materializes the 'new strength' promised tothose who wait upon the Lord. This promise takes form in the vigorous ascentof an eagle taking flight, juxtaposed with the profound stillness offered by twomoons illuminating the night.
Though the encompassing mountains and crashing waves signify the world'sturbulent storms, the deep night sky and radiant moons at their core serve asan anchor of unwavering trust and hope. Much like the wings of an eaglepiercing through the darkness, I endeavored to render a sense of profoundrestoration and peace through pure, disciplined colors and elegant linework.

"To me, the theme "From Sun to Boy" is an exploration of the transmission ofconsciousness. The "Sun" signifies the infinite, primordial source of existence—a state of absolute clarity and unconditional love. The "Boy" represents theunfolding of this light into the material world: the pure, untainted potential ofthe creator who receives and translates this cosmic energy into art.
My artistic practice is a meditative dialogue between these two poles. Iperceive the act of creation as a process of distilling this "solar" wisdom intothe human experience. Through my work, I aim to depict the bridge betweenthe eternal and the ephemeral, capturing the stillness and the "throbbing" oftime. By presenting these pieces at BIEAF 2026, I hope to offer a vision of artas a sacred vessel—a medium through which humanity can reclaim its innatepeace, freedom, and the hopeful energy required to nurture the creators ofour future."

Artist's Statement on the Work:"In this painting, titled Red Tara, I explore the dynamic energy of compassionand enlightenment as a cosmic force. The fiery red hues, rendered throughthick, textural impasto, do not merely represent a color but embody theradiant, life-giving heat of the Sun—the primal source of all creation andwisdom. This solar energy is channeled and transformed within the figure ofTara, who emerges as a compassionate conduit.
The swirling forms and organic curves of the composition depict this energy inmotion, transitioning from the infinite source (Sun) into a tangible presence. Itis a silent, yet potent, transfer of knowledge and peace. While Tara is a revereddeity in Eastern philosophy, in the context of the 23rd BIEAF 2026 theme, shesymbolizes the archetypal nurturer and guide. She is the divine wisdom thatreceives the "light" and sculpts it to illuminate the path for humanity's future—represented by the "Boy". Thus, Red Tara stands as a bridge between theeternal source and the evolving world, inviting the viewer to experience thestillness within movement and the hope for a peaceful world."

Balloons are a popular toy that children enjoy playing with, even thoughthey often lose them. Yet, they feel happy when they float away.

The last standing tree witnesses the destruction of a forest that was once fullof life. As the sun begins to set, it passes its light to a child carrying a smallseedling. This light represents hope and the chance to repair the damage thathumans have caused. The child represents the younger generation, who willinherit the earth and the responsibility to protect it. Through this artwork, Iwant to remind people that the future of our planet depends not only onnature, but also on our actions and the choices we make today.

From Sun to Boy can be understood as another expression of the Yin andYang principle: the feminine and masculine energies that together shape theworld. Creation emerges through feminine energy, yet just as every work of artrequires a viewer, both creator and creation require an observer in order tofully exist.
What is fascinating here is the reversal of roles: the created being becomes anobserver of its creator, while the creator maintains a lasting gaze upon itscreation. Their relationship is reciprocal, forming a continuous cycle ofpresence and meaning.
This idea resonates with the Copenhagen interpretation of quantummechanics, which suggests that the fundamental particles of creation existonly as probabilities until they are observed. Through observation, possibilitytakes form and becomes reality.
The title chosen for BIEAF 2026 points toward two essential forces of life thattogether shape existence. Nature has always provided elegant and completemodels through which complex ideas can be understood. By bringing thesetwo energies together, my artwork invites a deeper contemplation of thenature of creation, observation, and our place within the universe.

My work begins with a word: sukoon — not mere pleasure or happiness, but adeeper state of blissful calm that arrives only when broken images arearranged with full consciousness and awareness.
I understand life as ever-expanding, accumulating layers of experience thatstack upon one another, obscuring what came before. My paintings makethese layers visible — formally, as a painterly strategy, and personally, as a wayof understanding how we live. Chiselling away at what has been hidden, Ireveal the rhythmic intervals beneath: the essence of physical and spiritualexistence.
History and mythology are my sources. I take images from cave paintings,temple surfaces, tribal totems and ritualistic patterns and construct them intoworks that are both two-dimensional and embossed — Braille-like surfacesfrom another time. The viewer is placed in a blind zone, groping throughhistory with all senses sharpened.
My constructions are spontaneous, inspired by multiple sources, then veiled ingossamer brushstrokes — transparent, brittle, almost immaterial. The result isa bi-lingual structure: high relief and mural, ancient and immediate, evokingcave paintings and church frescoes at once.
At the residency, I will continue this excavation — layering paint the way aRangoli artist builds a surface, moving rhythmically from one end of the workto the other, hiding and revealing images, building a loom of time. Theperformative act is embedded in the painting itself. Viewers who spend timebefore the work will find it.I am searching for sukoon — and I make paintings that invite others to find ittoo.

As far as I've read about it, it gave off the vibe of human emotions andbeautiful nature around us which obviously is a very good topic for the artforms as these things fill up everything in the art and I feel like art itselfdepends on emotions from the Artists and most of them face differences inemotions through nature.
Description of the work : So, the picture containing sun was shot by me by a different camera but thestory behind it is that it looks the biggest object in the sky and mostly nearbywhich makes us wonder for a second but I was trying to find an object to makesure the sun is fitting and the object covers the subject so the purpose behindthe photo was no matter how big and far the sun looks it can still be coveredby a medium sized tree with a perspective change. The photo which has drymountains and trees was shot by me in a hurry in the car because in mylifetime I've never seen that place dry and it was always drained by the riverbut it was surprising seeing that dry so the drought was the backstory behindit. The last observing art one is one of my favorite because it has a characterthat is observing art with focus and thats all art is about observing and thenportraying through emotions.

한국 산하가 품은 깊은 공간감을 압도적으로 보여준다. 화면 아래에서 시작된 강은황금빛을 머금은 채 굽이치며 시선을 먼 산맥까지 이끌고, 겹겹이 중첩된 능선은 원근의 리듬을 만들어 시간과 거리의 깊이를 동시에 느끼게 한다.
수평으로 길게 펼쳐진 붉은 여명은 단순한 일출의 기록이 아니라, 밤과 낮이 교차하는 찰나의 긴장감을 담아내고, 붉은 하늘과 푸른 산맥의 강렬한 색채 대비는 자연의장엄함을 극대화하면서도 한국 산세 특유의 부드러운 능선미를 잃지 않는다.
이 작품의 중심은 화려한 색채보다 '흐름'에 있다. 강은 생명의 맥처럼 산과 산 사이를 관통하며 자연의 질서를 이어 주고, 산그리메는 그 흐름을 감싸 안으며 우리 땅의유기적인 구조를 보여준다. 하늘·산·강이 하나의 선과 면으로 연결되면서 풍경은 단순한 조망이 아니라 살아 있는 생명체로 호흡한다.

Mukul Chandra Barman is a Bangladesh-based visual artist whose practiceexplores emotion, memory, and the inner psychological landscape throughabstraction, texture, and layered forms. He holds both BFA and MFA degrees in Graphic Design from the University ofRajshahi. Alongside his artistic practice, he has over 16 years of experience invisual communication, which informs his strong sense of composition andstorytelling. Mukul has participated in numerous national and international exhibitionsacross countries including Latvia, Italy, the United States, and Argentina. Hehas also presented multiple solo exhibitions, notably his mask series, whichinvestigates identity and human expression. Description of the work : Banglar Monalisa is a symbol of the silent struggles endured by countlesswomen in Bangladesh. Despite carrying the weight of householdresponsibilities, sacrifice, and relentless hard work, they often do not receivethe recognition, appreciation, or love they deserve. Moments of happiness arefrequently overshadowed by sorrow, disappointment, and neglect, whichbecome a significant part of their lives. On one side lies responsibility, resilience, and self-sacrifice; on the other,unspoken pain, unfulfilled dreams, and loneliness. The tears in the eyes andthe stillness of the expression reflect a silent suffering that often remainsunseen and unheard. At the end of the day, when all responsibilities have been fulfilled, it is theirown pain, broken aspirations, and solitude that remain as their constantcompanions. This artwork is a tribute to those women who quietly holdeverything together, yet whose stories are rarely told or truly heard.

Description of the work :
A bridge is more than a structure connecting places; it links the past andpresent, tradition and modernity. On the Bridge is a series of benches andstools inspired by Korea's Museom Single-Log Bridge and Kkeomeok Bridge(Black Bridge). Once the only route connecting an isolated village to theoutside world, and Korea's first reinforced-concrete bridge, these landmarksare reinterpreted through the seat and legs of each piece. Their contrastinghistories are expressed through material, form, and structure, transformingthe idea of connection into a functional sculptural object.

The painting The View of Chaos reflects how nature sometimes reacts to theway human beings treat it—generating chaos before returning to a state ofcalm and balance. This is expressed through visual elements such as eyeswatching without intervening, memories consumed by fire, and collapsingtrees; the chaos intensifies as everyone looks on.
Myriam Romero Leroy, originally from Venezuela—a country recently struck byearthquakes—often speaks of "soil sovereignty": a concept concerning whoowns the land and who knows how to care for, respect, and understand it asthe climate and nature spiral out of control.
Living in France and witnessing the burning of trees and forests in the south ofthe country, she reflects on the existence of places on Earth where we cansettle and cultivate the land, and on the need to remember that we are part ofit—not isolated entities. Yet, when we destabilize the earth, it can rise upagainst us, forcing us to migrate and leaving us amidst chaos, heat, and fire.
