Tell us about BIEAF2026 'From Sun To Boy' :
The little boy stood on the edge of the hill, letting the lastrays of the afternoon sun warm his face. The light of theevening painted the horizon with deep orange and gold, slowlyextinguishing the shadows of a difficult day. Staring intently at the glow thatsinked into the horizon line, he felt a strange peaceflood his heart.
He clenched his fists and took a deep breath. In his mind, theconfusion and fears began to subside, giving way to asweet certainty. He knew that the sun, no matter how dark thenight followed, had one unbreakable promise to make: to rise again the nextmorning. With that thought, a spontaneous smile formed on his lips. He wascertain that the dawn would bring with it new opportunities, fresh hope, and amuch better, brighter tomorrow.

The bark of a tree
Frittage, ink, watercolor and black colores pencil
87x57 2026
In the work "The Skin of a Tree", Mar Sueiras seeks poetic solutions, combiningwet and dry techniques and exploring the relationship between introspectionand visual creation, to deepen the duality of a physical and emotionalrelationship with nature. An immersion in the emotional states of artisticpractice and the natural world, through the evocation of a space and a time. Inshort, a unit where the totality of existence is represented, such as Yuzhou 宇宙, where the setting (space) and history (time) form a single dynamic andinterconnected reality. Here, a tree, like a child, plays with its branches movingin the breeze: they undulate, dance and enjoy contact with nature, longing foran intact natural environment, a nature where a tree can grow and expand itsbranches and where all living beings can find shelter.

Armenia
Margarita Ghazaryan is an interdisciplinary artist who uses embroidery as aconceptual tool to address social norms and issues. Through textileinstallations, she reinterprets invisible narratives—such as institutionalerasure, linguistic violence, and fragmented memory—making suppressedlayers of history visible.
Description of the work :
"Sifted Gaze" features three domestic sieves with embroidered fragments of aself-portrait. Moving from complete to distorted, only the eyes remain. Using aphotographic negative effect, they project positive shadows on the wall. Thework contrasts individual memory with official historiography; while it tries to"sift" and level the narrative, the remaining gaze resists erasure, gainingintense strength and clarity. This self-portrait creates a self-reflective layer, where the artist is both the observer and the subject of history's sifting.

Blue Sand
Oil on canvas 90x70 2025
This work began in Doha in the summer of 2025.
It was meant to be a sun-filled, realistic landscape.
But time passed.
I moved. I changed.
And when I returned to it, I no longer wanted to paint the heat.
I wanted to paint what remained inside me.
I covered the desert in ultramarine.
I turned day into night.
Yellow into blue.
"Blue Sand" is not about a place.
It is about memory - how light can live inside darkness.
This is a continuation of my blue period.
A work about transformation, distance, and quiet strength.

In my opinion, memory islight and light is magic, and that magic of memory is represented here by the"diaplerons": mythical crearures from the aragonese folklore, which are nowdepicted as bursts of light playing with the children, connecting past andpresent with magic, with nature.

Methamorfosis
Canvas acrilic 80x70 2015
The work described evokes a sense of mystery and beauty through the figureof a woman emerging from metal cubes. This image suggests a contrastbetween the coldness and rigidity of the metal and the softness and beauty ofthe human form. The woman, with her serene gaze, seems to convey aprofound calm, adding a mystical element to the piece.
The simplicity of the design highlights the essence of the female figure, allowing her presence to become the central focal point. The choice of metalcubes could symbolize both structure and limitation, while the woman—byemerging from them—represents liberation and transformation. This dualitybetween the industrial and the organic creates a powerful visual narrative, suggesting that beauty can emerge even in the most unusual environments

My artistic practice explores the fragile relationship between human beings, nature, and the emotional landscapes that connect them. Through figurativeand symbolic painting, I seek to transform contemporary concerns intointimate visual narratives, where beauty and vulnerability coexist. I believe art has the power to awaken empathy. Rather than illustrating reality,I create spaces for reflection, inviting the viewer to recognize themselveswithin the lives of others—human or non-human. Women frequently appear inmy work as symbols of care, resilience, and the silent strength that nurtureslife in all its forms. Growing environmental crises have become an essential part of my artisticresearch. Living in Italy, I have witnessed increasingly destructive wildfiresthat devastate forests, displace wildlife, and alter entire ecosystems. Theseexperiences have reinforced my belief that humanity is not separate fromnature but deeply intertwined with it. In What We Choose to Save, the image of a woman protecting a rescued owlbecomes a metaphor for compassion in the face of ecological collapse. Thework does not seek to portray disaster alone, but to remind us that every actof protection is also an act of hope.

What we choose to save
Acrilic 90cmx60cm 2025
This painting was inspired by the devastating wildfires that increasingly affectour Planet .Living in Italy, I witness each year how fire consumes forests, destroyshabitats, and threatens countless species in Europe .
In this painting, a woman holds a rescued owl against a landscapetransformed by flames and smoke. The owl represents vulnerable wildlife; thewoman represents the human capacity for care, intervention, andresponsibility. Without that gesture of rescue, survival would not be possible.
An abstract shadow crossing the sky suggests the presence of aerialfirefighters and emergency response, reminding us that climate change is nolonger a distant concept but a reality that demands action.
This work is not only about destruction. It is about the fragile bond betweenhumans and nature, and the urgent question that remains after every fire:what do we choose to save?

Description of the work :"
Transit Landscape" is part of a body of work exploring the aestheticrepresentation of the "non-place." It employs photography as a poetic tool toreveal the desolation and anonymity that pervade the non-places of our era.In this series, the aim is to highlight solitude, emptiness, and a lack of history—defining characteristics of the non-place—where dead trees and branchesserve as visual metaphors for "nothingness.
"This is contemporary landscape photography that eschews the pursuit ofbeauty or the picturesque; instead, it seeks to document the superfluous, capturing an absence that evokes coldness, transience, and dispossession. These images function as visual haikus—subtle and evocative.

Maria Pratiwi
Indonesia
Maria Tiwi is a distinguished contemporary Indonesian painter whose workbridges the depth of traditional cultural heritage with the sharp sensibilities ofmodern visual design. Operating from her private art studio in SouthTangerang, Indonesia, Tiwi has established herself as a powerful voice in thecontemporary art scene. Her practice is recognized for its intense emotionalresonance, textured brushwork, and a profound thematic commitment tohuman relationships, empowerment, and universal truths. Early Life andAcademic FoundationBorn in Boyolali, a small town in Central Java, Tiwi grewup immersed in the rich, philosophical, and aesthetic traditions of Javaneseculture. This upbringing instilled in her an enduring appreciation for nuance, balance, and symbolism, which would later form the emotional core of herartistic endeavors. Her formal journey into the arts began in 1984 when sheenrolled in the Fine Arts Education Department at IKIP Semarang (nowUniversitas Negeri Semarang - UNNES). Over the course of six years, sherigorously trained in classical and contemporary techniques, graduating in1990. This academic foundation provided her with the technical dexterityrequired to transform abstract personal expressions into compelling visualnarratives. The Graphic Design InfluenceFollowing her graduation, Tiwirelocated to the bustling metropolis of Jakarta to work for a prominentgraphic design firm. This professional chapter proved pivotal to her artisticevolution. The demands of commercial graphic design forced her to masterthe rules of composition, structural balance, and intentional visuallayouts. When she eventually transitioned back to a full-time studio practice, she carried these principles with her. The marriage of structural design logicwith raw artistic freedom gave birth to her signature aesthetic—wherespontaneity and emotional chaos are masterfully held together by anunderlying sense of balance and compositional integrity. Style, Technique, andArtistic PhilosophyFor Tiwi, painting is the very essence of her soul, serving asa rare space of absolute freedom. Utilizing oil and acrylic paints, she pours herpersonal experiences, inner anxieties, thoughts, and desires onto thecanvas.Visually, her work is highly recognizable for its tactile energy. Sheemploys thick, expressive brushstrokes that create a powerful sense ofphysical movement across the canvas. Rather than presenting flat imagery,Tiwi engages in a meticulous, time-consuming layering process. By buildingup successive layers of rich, deep, and intense color palettes, she invitesviewers to look past the surface and immerse themselves in the painting'semotional depth. Her inspiration is fiercely intimate, often derived frompersonal reflections, deep conversations with friends, and the raw, livedrealities of the people in her immediate circle.Thematic Evolution and GlobalRecognitionFor many years, female figures dominated Tiwi's creative output. This focus stemmed from a core desire to honor, uplift, and empower women, urging them to stand courageously and maintain open-minded perspectivesin a changing world. Recently, however, her conceptual focus has undergonean exciting evolution. Turning her lens toward the broader spectrum of humanconnection, Tiwi has begun exploring male perspectives and the complex, universal dynamics of modern couples.Tiwi’s contemporary works speak auniversal emotional language that resonates globally. She has proudlyshowcased her paintings in international exhibitions across Indonesia, SouthKorea, Turkey, India, and Nigeria, solidifying her status as a globalcontemporary artist.
Description of the work :"
"Small World" is a compelling visual commentary on the complex relationshipbetween human existence, hyper-connectivity, and self-reflection in themodern digital era.The artwork addresses the paradox of our contemporaryreality: while rapid technological advancements have collapsed physicaldistances—allowing us to see, hear, and gather information from any corner ofthe globe instantly—they have also created a profound inner void. The worldhas grown incredibly small, yet our capacity for deep internal observation hasvastly shrunk.Visually, the painting captures the overwhelming noise ofconstant global connection. However, its core message serves as a criticalwarning. In a society where everything is accessible at the swipe of a finger, humanity easily forgets to look inward. The canvas illustrates the danger ofthis imbalance: without the grounding forces of deep knowledge, emotionalstrength, and psychological maturity, rapid technological progress ceases tobe an advantage. Instead, it becomes a psychological trap that breedsintellectual laziness and erodes the human fighting spirit."Small World" is anurgent artistic invitation to pause, look past the superficial speed of modernlife, and cultivate the inner resilience required to navigate a hyper-connecteduniverse without losing our soul.

Where there is Light, there can be no Darkness.Light is the beginning—the primordial source of life, a symbol of goodness, knowledge, and spiritual awakening - the most perfect medium in the hands ofthe Creator, for through it the invisible takes shape and an idea becomes aworld. The child-Creator, constructs the Universe with the effortlessinnocence of play, arranging the smallest particles—quarks and molecules—and breathing life into them through the energy of light. In this act of creation, science and art converge to reveal that every great beginning is born from asingle spark of light—a spiritual impulse.

'Mind, the Gap 4'This surreal collage merges disparate elements to create an intriguingcomposition. At its center, the partial, torn face of Martha Vickers from a 1946magazine in black and white covers a vibrant, colourful illustration of anantique kite, evoking a striking contrast between the monotonous and thedazzling. In the lower left, another kite, this one in the form of a bird withdetailed plumage, joins this juxtaposition, emphasising the themes of flightand freedom. The texture of the collar and the interplay of light and shadow onthe face add a subtle elegance. This collage successfully marries the old andthe new, capturing the viewer's eye and imagination. Through its blend ofshapes and colours, the work invites a personal and profound interpretation.Mixed media composition on canvas board.Varnished, signed and delivered with a certificat of authenticity.Black wooden box frame included.

I’ve been working with glass with 30+ years of expertise. My work try to reflectthe deep emotions and complexities of our era through the medium of glass.Blending blown and cold-working techniques, I shape light and raw material toignite imagination, challenge limits, and touch the soul.
This sculpture was born as a direct response to a moment of social oppression—the banning of a Pride march—capturing the raw tension betweenvulnerability and collective resilience. The pierced, vibrant heart representswounded pride, love, and identity under attack by a harsh, destructive force(symbolized by the heavy, rustic iron nail). However, the true core of the piecelies below. The glass figures do not stand alone; they form an organic, unbreakable human chain. Through their shared effort, they create a livingpillar that prevents the heart from falling. 'Sustained by Unity' is a monumentto the truth that no authority can crush human dignity when a communitychooses to stand shoulder to shoulder.

RESILIENCIE
oil on canvas 30" X 24" 2026
The Splendor of Creation: From the Sun to the Child. In this Work, an imposing female figure becomes the very embodiment oflight and origin. With her back to the viewer, the woman displays a majesticyellow dress that expands with the vibrant force of a sunrise, emulating thecreative and eternal energy of the sun. This work captures the sacred journeyof life: a cosmic transition that flows directly from the solar source to thepurity of childhood. The naked back of the woman evokes vulnerability and truth, a clean channelthrough which the divinity and warmth of the king star manifest on Earth. Hisgolden mantle is not simple cloth; it is liquid light, a stream of love and divineprotection that makes its way in the middle of the surrounding gloom. Thedark background highlights the glare of gold, symbolizing how sunlightdispels darkness to guide and shelter new beginnings. Under the concept **“From the sun to the child”**, this female figure adoptsthe role of the cosmic mother or the sacred bridge. The movement of hishands, which raises clothing with grace and lightness, represents thegenerous act of extending that vital energy, of inheriting the heat of theuniverse to being more innocent: the child. She is the bearer of the miracle oflife, transforming the vastness of the sun into a tender, warm and protectiverefuge. Every illuminated fold is a blessing of peace and love that travels from thefirmament to the cradle, ensuring that the divine spark of the Creator alwaysguides the steps of the new generation. It is a visual tribute to the heritage oflight.

Description of the work :
Two luminous circles anchor the composition: the radiant form abovesymbolizes the sun, while the smaller circle below represents the boy.Suspended between them, a paper crane becomes a symbol of passage, carrying hope, curiosity, and the desire to grow. The work reflects therelationship between the individual and the natural world, where resilienceand achievement are nurtured through connection. Through layers of textureand shifting fields of color, the painting reflects the distance betweeninnocence and aspiration—a passage shaped by growth rather than arrival.

Description of the work : Portrait of Moment explores the fleeting nature of time and the emotionaldepth contained within a single instant. The artwork captures a moment thatmight otherwise pass unnoticed, transforming it into a lasting visual memory.Through expressive forms, color, and composition, the work reflects the subtleemotions, thoughts, and human experiences that define a particular point intime. Every moment is unique and unrepeatable, yet ithas the power to shape our understanding of ourselves and the world aroundus. By isolating and preserving a transient experience, Portrait of Momentencourages reflection on the beauty and fragility of life. Ultimately, the artwork serves as a visual meditation on presence andremembrance. It celebrates the significance of ordinary moments, remindingus that time is constantly moving while memories remain as traces of ourpersonal and collective journeys.

The pulse of fullness in emptiness
Acrylic on cenvas 12" ×12" 2026
The Pulse of Wholeness in Emptiness This title embodies a profound spiritual truth. We often associate emptinesswith absence, loneliness, or lack. Yet in spiritual philosophy, emptiness is nevermere nothingness; it is the source of infinite potential, consciousness, andcreation. When the mind is freed from attachment, ego, and inner noise, thepulse of wholeness can be felt within that very emptiness. The heart in the painting appears suspended within layers of ice-liketransparency. Outwardly, it seems silent, cold, and motionless, yet within it liesthe hidden vibration of life itself. The white and blue hues symbolize purity, peace, and spiritual cleansing, while the golden glimmers suggest thepresence of a divine consciousness that quietly awakens in the depths ofstillness. This artwork reminds us that true fulfillment is not found in externalachievements, but in the silence of the inner self. Where all sounds cease andall identities dissolve, the heart begins to feel the touch of the Infinite. Thatsilent yet living experience is what this title seeks to express—“The Pulse ofWholeness in Emptiness.”

By bringingtogether diverse cultures, forms of expression, and experiences while placingartists at its center, this approach offers an important model of solidaritywithin today’s art world. Description of the work :
In this work, I reinterpret a spatial setting that preserves Istanbul’s historicaland cultural fabric through the lens of technology. The piece focuses on thebridges established between past and present, exploring the human innerworld, the search for identity, and the experience of loneliness within crowds.Despite the allure of vivid colors, neon lights, and the seductive urbanatmosphere, the individual’s existential questioning remains unchanged. Thesilent dark figure in the left corner symbolizes a person observing life from adistance while searching for a sense of self. No AI was used in the creation ofthis artwork. The entire work was produced through 3D modeling.

Description of the work :
Seed of the Sun explores the sun as the origin of life, energy, and creativepotential. Organic forms spread across the canvas like seeds, cells, ormicroscopic worlds in constant transformation. Their dialogue with theluminous yellow background evokes the encounter between solar light andthe invisible processes of growth. The painting speaks of the creative processas a living force: every seed holds the possibility of transformation, just asevery act of imagination begins with a single spark.

Through spontaneous clay-forming processes, I discover emerging forms thatseem to reveal themselves from within the material. My work embracesintuition and chance, allowing shapes to evolve organically rather thanfollowing predetermined designs. Inspired by pareidolia—the tendency toperceive familiar images within ambiguous forms—I use the sgraffitotechnique to improvise surface decorations that respond to the evolvingvessel. The resulting works explore the boundary between recognition andimagination, inviting viewers to uncover their own meanings and associationswithin each form.
Tell us about BIEAF2026 'From Sun To Boy' : My interpretation of From Sun to Boy draws upon alchemical and Jungiansymbolism. The Sun represents the primordial source of life, spirit, andcreative energy. Like the scarab of ancient solar myths, which carries andtransforms the power of the sun, this energy is passed into humanconsciousness and set into motion through a process of inner transformation. Through this alchemical journey, the Boy emerges as the Puer Aeternus, theEternal Child, a symbol of renewal, imagination, and unrealized potential. The Boy is not merely an individual but a future-oriented consciousness thatremains connected to nature and animals. Through love, wonder, and respectfor the living world, he participates in the healing and continuation of life. Thisprocess unfolds not in a straight line but as a spiral of co-evolution, wherehumanity and nature continually transform one another. Within this work, the one-eyed Dokkaebi appears as a symbolic encounterwith one’s own magic. Emerging intuitively through the coil-building process,it represents the first meeting with the Self in the Jungian sense—the hiddencenter of the psyche that lies beyond the ego. The Dokkaebi stands at thethreshold between the unconscious and the visible world, embodying themoment when an inner image takes form. It invites viewers to recognize theirown unique magic and to encounter the creative force that guides theirongoing transformation.

Sculpture, Design, Craft, grogged clay 25×45 2025
This sculpture is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Korean one-eyedDokkaebi. Rather than following a predetermined design, the form wasdiscovered through an intuitive coil-building process, allowing the figure toemerge gradually from the clay. Inspired by Jung's concept of theunconscious, the Dokkaebi symbolizes the hidden creative forces that existwithin every individual. Its single eye suggests both inward reflection andoutward perception, bridging imagination and reality. By bringing theseunconscious images into physical form, the work seeks to materialize a senseof personal magic. Viewers are invited to encounter the figure not as a fixedsymbol, but as a catalyst for discovering their own meanings, memories, andinner magic.
