BIEAF Steering Committee announces BIEAF2026 participants. 848 artists were selected from 84 countries. The online exhibition will run from September 10, 2025 to February 28, 2026. During this period, offline exhibitions will be held at various galleries in Busan.

I am Cao Bich Ngoc, a graduate of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, class of2009–2013. I am currently working as an Art teacher while continuing myartistic practice in oil painting and soft pastel. Teaching allows me to stayclose to the emotional world of children, and it deepens my interest in how artcan nurture memory, compassion, sensitivity, and the ability to perceive beauty. I have participated in several group exhibitions, sold artworks, and receivedinterest and commissions from a number of collectors. To me, painting is notonly a form of personal expression, but also a way to preserve and transmitenduring values: love, culture, family memory, and hope for the future. By joining this competition, I hope to bring the perspective of both an artistand an educator: gentle, feminine, emotionally layered, and directed towardchildren and the humanistic values we need to protect for future generations.

Description of the work : In the Arms of Memory approaches the BIEAF 2026 theme “From Sun To Boy”not through the direct image of the sun, but through a more intimate andenduring source of light: a mother’s love for her child. In the painting, a young mother is knitting beside her child’s cradle. The warm-colored threads evoke the color of sunlight, slowly woven through time,patience, and tenderness. To me, this act is not only about making a garmentto keep the child warm; it is also the weaving of an invisible shelter around thebaby — the mother’s “little sun,” and at the same time, an image of the futuregeneration. The thread suggests continuity: from the mother’s hands to the child, fromfamily memory to present life, from traditional values to hope for tomorrow. Ina rapidly changing world, I want to return to seemingly simple things: a cradle,a mother’s hands, the act of knitting, and the warmth of home. These aresymbols of care, preservation, and cultural transmission. If the sun is the source of life in nature, love is the source of life within thehuman soul. Through this work, I want to suggest that the future is protectednot only by great actions, but also by memory, culture, tenderness, and thecapacity to love — quietly nurtured from the very beginning of life.

Description of the work : In the Arms of Memory approaches the BIEAF 2026 theme “From Sun To Boy”not through the direct image of the sun, but through a more intimate andenduring source of light: a mother’s love for her child. In the painting, a young mother is knitting beside her child’s cradle. The warm-colored threads evoke the color of sunlight, slowly woven through time,patience, and tenderness. To me, this act is not only about making a garmentto keep the child warm; it is also the weaving of an invisible shelter around thebaby — the mother’s “little sun,” and at the same time, an image of the futuregeneration. The thread suggests continuity: from the mother’s hands to the child, fromfamily memory to present life, from traditional values to hope for tomorrow. In the painting, a young mother is knitting beside her child’s cradle. The warm-colored threads evoke the color of sunlight, slowly woven through time,patience, and tenderness. To me, this act is not only about making a garmentto keep the child warm; it is also the weaving of an invisible shelter around thebaby — the mother’s “little sun,” and at the same time, an image of the futuregeneration. The thread suggests continuity: from the mother’s hands to the child, fromfamily memory to present life, from traditional values to hope for tomorrow. Ina rapidly changing world, I want to return to seemingly simple things: a cradle,a mother’s hands, the act of knitting, and the warmth of home. I am Rayees Mir, a multidisciplinary artist from Kashmir, India, with a Bachelorof Fine Arts (BFA) in Applied Art. My practice combines photography, digitalart, conceptual art, and mixed media to explore themes of identity, philosophy,psychology, and the relationship between humanity and nature. Through myparticipation in BIEAF 2026: “From Sun To Boy,” I hope to share a work thatencourages reflection, dialogue, and emotional connection across cultures.
Description of the work : In the Arms of Memory approaches the BIEAF 2026 theme “From Sun To Boy”not through the direct image of the sun, but through a more intimate andenduring source of light: a mother’s love for her child. In the painting, a young mother is knitting beside her child’s cradle. The warm-colored threads evoke the color of sunlight, slowly woven through time,patience, and tenderness. To me, this act is not only about making a garmentto keep the child warm; it is also the weaving of an invisible shelter around thebaby — the mother’s “little sun,” and at the same time, an image of the futuregeneration. The thread suggests continuity: from the mother’s hands to the child, fromfamily memory to present life, from traditional values to hope for tomorrow. Ina rapidly changing world, I want to return to seemingly simple things: a cradle,a mother’s hands, the act of knitting, and the warmth of home. These aresymbols of care, preservation, and cultural transmission. If the sun is the source of life in nature, love is the source of life within thehuman soul. Through this work, I want to suggest that the future is protectednot only by great actions, but also by memory, culture, tenderness, and thecapacity to love — quietly nurtured from the very beginning of life.

I am currently working as an Art teacher while continuing myartistic practice in oil painting and soft pastel. Teaching allows me to stayclose to the emotional world of children, and it deepens my interest in how artcan nurture memory, compassion, sensitivity, and the ability to perceive beauty. I have participated in several group exhibitions, sold artworks, and receivedinterest and commissions from a number of collectors. I am Rayees Mir, a multidisciplinary artist from Kashmir, India, with a Bachelorof Fine Arts (BFA) in Applied Art. My practice combines photography, digitalart, conceptual art, and mixed media to explore themes of identity, philosophy,psychology, and the relationship between humanity and nature. Through myparticipation in BIEAF 2026: “From Sun To Boy,” I hope to share a work thatencourages reflection, dialogue, and emotional connection across cultures.
Description of the work : In the Arms of Memory approaches the BIEAF 2026 theme “From Sun To Boy”not through the direct image of the sun, but through a more intimate andenduring source of light: a mother’s love for her child. In the painting, a young mother is knitting beside her child’s cradle. The warm-colored threads evoke the color of sunlight, slowly woven through time,patience, and tenderness. To me, this act is not only about making a garmentto keep the child warm; it is also the weaving of an invisible shelter around thebaby — the mother’s “little sun,” and at the same time, an image of the futuregeneration. The thread suggests continuity: from the mother’s hands to the child, fromfamily memory to present life, from traditional values to hope for tomorrow. Ina rapidly changing world, I want to return to seemingly simple things: a cradle,a mother’s hands, the act of knitting, and the warmth of home. These aresymbols of care, preservation, and cultural transmission. If the sun is the source of life in nature, love is the source of life within thehuman soul. Through this work, I want to suggest that the future is protectednot only by great actions, but also by memory, culture, tenderness, and thecapacity to love — quietly nurtured from the very beginning of life.

I am currently working as an Art teacher while continuing myartistic practice in oil painting and soft pastel. Teaching allows me to stayclose to the emotional world of children, and it deepens my interest in how artcan nurture memory, compassion, sensitivity, and the ability to perceive beauty. Description of the work : Surviving in reds
I am Rayees Mir, a multidisciplinary artist from Kashmir, India, with a Bachelorof Fine Arts (BFA) in Applied Art. My practice combines photography, digitalart, conceptual art, and mixed media to explore themes of identity, philosophy,psychology, and the relationship between humanity and nature. Through myparticipation in BIEAF 2026: “From Sun To Boy,” I hope to share a work thatencourages reflection, dialogue, and emotional connection across cultures.
Description of the work : In the Arms of Memory approaches the BIEAF 2026 theme “From Sun To Boy”not through the direct image of the sun, but through a more intimate andenduring source of light: a mother’s love for her child. In the painting, a young mother is knitting beside her child’s cradle. The warm-colored threads evoke the color of sunlight, slowly woven through time,patience, and tenderness. To me, this act is not only about making a garmentto keep the child warm; it is also the weaving of an invisible shelter around thebaby — the mother’s “little sun,” and at the same time, an image of the futuregeneration. The thread suggests continuity: from the mother’s hands to the child, fromfamily memory to present life, from traditional values to hope for tomorrow. Ina rapidly changing world, I want to return to seemingly simple things: a cradle,a mother’s hands, the act of knitting, and the warmth of home. These aresymbols of care, preservation, and cultural transmission. If the sun is the source of life in nature, love is the source of life within thehuman soul. Through this work, I want to suggest that the future is protectednot only by great actions, but also by memory, culture, tenderness, and thecapacity to love — quietly nurtured from the very beginning of life.

I am Cao Bich Ngoc, a graduate of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, class of2009–2013. I am currently working as an Art teacher while continuing myartistic practice in oil painting and soft pastel. Teaching allows me to stayclose to the emotional world of children, and it deepens my interest in how artcan nurture memory, compassion, sensitivity, and the ability to perceive beauty. I have participated in several group exhibitions, sold artworks, and receivedinterest and commissions from a number of collectors. To me, painting is notonly a form of personal expression, but also a way to preserve and transmitenduring values: love, culture, family memory, and hope for the future. By joining this competition, I hope to bring the perspective of both an artistand an educator: gentle, feminine, emotionally layered, and directed towardchildren and the humanistic values we need to protect for future generations.

“Serene” is an abstract interpretation of nature that reflects the inner silence and the evolving spirit of a landscape shaped by time. The circular form symbolizes the cyclical nature of life and a universal search for balance, while brushstrokes, scratching marks, and layered colors represent the slow yet impactful imprint of time on the earth’s surface.
The stormy sky blended with earthy tones expresses both tranquility and fleeting unrest. Within this contrast, the landscape persists—guiding the viewer beyond the surface, toward sensations, memories, and intuition. The abstract details on the surface aim to convey what is felt more than what is seen. “Serene” offers a moment of pause within the fast flow of life—an invitation to breathe within a timeless landscape. It gently leads the viewer into a quiet inner journey, reminding us that a deep and simple connection with nature is always possible.

Asiye Sarıoğlu is one of the contemporary Turkish painters whose art aims to raise environmental awareness. Born in Ankara, Sarıoğlu completed her master's degree in the Painting Department at Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts. In her thesis, she explored "The Relationship Between Ecological Art and Nature," examining nature and ecological issues from an artistic perspective. The artist lived for a period in Sydney, Australia, where she was influenced by the continent’s diverse geographical textures, which she reflected in her works. In her artistic practice, Sarıoglu produces abstract and nature-themed works. She has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions, held eight solo exhibitions in Turkey, and one solo show abroad. She currently continues her artistic work in her studio in Urla, Izmir, Turkey Asiye Sarıoglu’s works address nature and environmental themes through an abstract visual language, aiming to foster ecological awareness in the viewer.

This work depicts a heroic moment from the legend of Arash the Archer, a mythical Iranian figure featured in the Shahnameh, who sacrifices his life by shooting an arrow to define his homeland’s borders.The green celestial circle, inspired by astronomical configurations, symbolizes the bond between fate and the heavens in his path as if the stars themselves stand with him. Mount Damavand in the background represents Iran’s strength and endurance. The concept and composition of the work are entirely my own.
