World Artist Invitation Exhibition
BIEAF Steering Committee announces BIEAF2025 participants. 641 artists were selected from 80 countries. The online exhibition will run from September 10, 2025 to February 28, 2026. During this period, offline exhibitions will be held at various galleries in Busan.

Three figures stand in symbolic composition: Rodin's Thinker evokes universal contemplation, the woman wearing an African mask explores identity, and the divine silhouette reminds us of spiritual presence. Traditional dancer masks emphasize cultural roots. Together, they question our lost center and invite us to reconnect with meaning and humanity in times of crisis.
I am a Cameroonian visual artist whose practice explores identity, memory and spirituality inspired by African cultures. My paintings combine human figures, traditional masks and symbolic elements to create a dialogue between heritage and contemporary issues.Over the years, I have participated in several international exhibitions and art competitions, highlighting the importance of art as a tool for connection and awareness. In 2025, my work Afri'casso was awarded First Prize at the Living Colors International Art Exhibition organized by ArtTutor.Through acrylic, oil and mixed media techniques, I strive to create powerful visual narratives that invite reflection, sharing and hope.

Soy Kevin Berdi (Buenos Aires, 1992), arquitecto y artista visual. Mi obra cruza arquitectura, pintura y percepción, creando paisajes urbanos que se descomponen en formas imposibles. Exploro vértigo, surrealismo y crisis del espacio. He expuesto en buenos aires en espacios como Patio Bullrich, Museo Sívori, Museo Rómulo Raggio asi como Art on paper y Affordable New York. Con “Umbral” propongo una mirada crítica sobre colapsos urbanos, ecológicos y existenciales, que dialoga directamente con BIEAF 2025: “The Lost Center – Art in Crisis”.

En mi obra, "Umbral", presentada para BIEAF 2025 bajo el eje temático 'El Centro Perdido - Arte en Crisis', abordo la profunda disolución del centro como una fractura existencial y medioambiental. A través de una perspectiva arquitectónica laberíntica, construida meticulosamente con estilógrafos y acrílico, exploro la sensación de desorientación y la búsqueda de significado en un mundo donde la estabilidad y el orden parecen cada vez más esquivos. La repetición de estructuras que se desvanecen en la distancia, creando espacios vacíos y perspectivas infinitas, busca reflejar esta crisis de referentes en el mundo contemporáneo. El pasillo que se adentra hacia un abismo de profundidad ilusoria y la inquietante falta de un punto focal claro simbolizan ciudades y sistemas que, al igual que nuestro entorno, se encuentran en un constante colapso. Esta fragilidad inherente, la ausencia de una dirección definida, no solo expone cómo lo aparente se desvanece en crisis, sino que también funciona como un llamado urgente a replantear nuestro vínculo con el entorno y con nuestra propia existencia. "Umbral" invita al espectador a detenerse, a confrontar la incertidumbre y a cuestionar: ¿qué ocurre cuando el centro ya no existe? Es una reflexión visual sobre la necesidad de redefinir nuestros cimientos en un mundo en constante transformación.

Through the BİAF project, Keziban Ertuğrul uses the language of art to
highlight universal values. Her works, centered on the sea theme, vividly
express inner turmoil and social tensions with bold colors and symbolism. By fostering intercultural dialogue in international projects, her art becomes a meaningful bridge promoting peace, understanding, and shared humanity.
Keziban Ertuğrul was born in Şarkikaraağaç, Isparta. She graduated from the Painting Department of Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2007. In 2011, she completed her pedagogical formation at Akdeniz University Faculty of Education in Antalya. In 2017, she began studying Sociology at Anadolu University. The same year, she founded the International Island Countries Artists Group to unite the universal power of art. She held two solo exhibitions and curated two international symposiums. In addition, she curated many international exhibitions, bringing together artists from different cultures. Her works have been featured in numerous international group exhibitions across various countries. Her art often focuses on the sea theme to reflect the complexity of human inner life and social issues. Concepts such as fear, confusion, emotional intensity, tension, and the struggle for existence are expressed through symbolic language and color sensitivity. She uses bold and vibrant colors to enhance emotional impact. As an artist who believes in universal peace, she aims to strengthen intercultural understanding through art. In the 2024–2025 term, she was selected as a World Peace Ambassador for Culture and Art and represented Turkey at the World Art Summit.

am Khadiza Tun Numani, a visual artist and interior designer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, holding a Master's Degree in Fine Arts (Drawing and Painting) from the University of Dhaka. I am the co-founder of Art n Artist, a social network for artists and art enthusiasts, and my artistic focus lies in realistic painting. My works have been showcased in numerous national and international galleries and exhibitions, earning recognition from the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the country's premier arts institution. Graduating as the top student from Bangladesh's most prestigious fine arts school, I have developed a creative process that is spontaneous, vivid, and meticulous, centered on strong thematic concepts and technical precision. My paintings explore philosophical and social dimensions, often addressing issues such as violence against women, social persecution, and abortion. Specializing in oil and acrylic on canvas, I excel in large-scale compositions, ensuring that each piece harmonizes space, theme, and emotion to resonate deeply with its intended message.

아크릴판 표면을 수없이 긁어서 만든 깃털 이미지에는 몸통이 없다. 관용적 표현에서‘몸통 없는 깃털’은‘꼬리 자르기’라는 표현처럼 실체 없는 진실에 대한 비유로 쓰이곤 한다. 그러나 예술이라는 허구의 차원에서 몸통 없는 깃털은 홀가분한 상태에서 유희를 가능하게 하는 조건이기도 하다. 단발성이기 보다는 시리즈의 성격이 강한 최기정의 작품은 몇 가지 구성요소를 선택하여 조합하는 유희적 속성이 두드러진다. 작가가 선택한 깃털과 새장, 곤충과 물고기 같은 요소는 물속 또는 들판의 풍경부터 수직 수평의 추상까지 아우르는 계열로 확장된다. 캔버스나 한지에 그려진 바탕 화면과 상호작용하는 아크릴판은 보호와 투과라는 두 가지 역할을 한다. 아크릴판에 침으로 새겨진 깃털은 한 개, 또는 두 개, 또는 여럿이 나와도 셀 수 있을 정도의 적은 숫자다. 가뜩이나 가벼운 존재의 무게를 더 비워낸다.

I am a contemporary Armenian artist working at the intersection of installation, sculpture, and conceptual collage. I work with a variety of materials, including clay, metal, glass, textile, stones, organic elements, as well as industrial and domestic waste. The choice of material is always driven by the concept — it serves both the form and the idea. For me, each material is simply a tool to give physical shape to a thought. Through layering and fragmentation, I explore themes related to cultural memory, invisible wounds, and the shifting boundaries between the body and the surrounding world. My main projects include: "Concept" — a series of conceptual sculptures "Armenian Mosaics" — a collage-based project "Fragment" — a series of installations I have participated in several exhibitions in Armenia and abroad and continue to develop new projects on a regular basis.

The presented work is part of my larger project Armenian Mosaics, where I use forgotten and discarded materials — especially medical waste, bandages, burnt paper, and old fabric. Through these materials, I explore not only physical pain, but also cultural, historical, and emotional loss. The work reflects on lost people, broken memories, and disappearing values. It expresses the feeling that the “center” — as a sense of meaning, connection, or identity — is no longer present or is deeply fractured. I feel deep sorrow and regret for these losses, and for the global issues that continue to grow while often being ignored or left unhealed. I would dare to say that using medical waste in this way has not been done in art before — neither in my local context nor internationally. My goal is to open a new space through these materials, where pain transforms into memory, and memory becomes a visual and conceptual language. My work does not offer solutions, but creates space — for the viewer to pause, feel, and reflect.

The Lost is a meditation on absence, displacement, and the intangible spaces between memory and oblivion. This painting does not depict loss as a singular event but as a lingering presence - an echo of what once was, or what might have been. It is an exploration of the voids we carry, both personal and collective, and the ways in which they shape our perception of the world. Visually, the work embraces ambiguity. Forms of shadows, suggesting figures, landscapes, or emotions that remain just beyond recognition. The figure avoids a fixed focal point, mirroring the elusive nature of loss itself - something felt but never fully grasped. Layers of translucent color and empty face build a sense of depth, as if the painting itself is a palimpsest of forgotten traces. In technique, I combined printing and rollerwork with deliberate eroding, allowing the surface to retain texture and interruptions. That evokes the duality of loss as both emptiness and a strange kind of fullness. What is not there becomes as vital as what remains. The Lost does not seek resolution. Instead, it dwells in the unresolved, asking the viewer to sit with the unknown. It is a quiet rebellion against closure, an acknowledgment that some things cannot be recovered - only remembered, reimagined, or released when you get lost at the center.

Kokou Ekouagou (Togo) graduated from the University of Lomé and studied Cultural Management at Goethe-Institut. He develops strategies based on multicultural principles, identity and affect through which he suggests critical approaches to dominant historical narratives and attempts to decentralise them. His current research projects are propelled by a desire to reflect on the classifications and constructs of everyday reality. His work is trans-medial encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, video, performance and installation. Ekouagou has exhibited at Torrance art Museum, Los Angeles; Ben Uri Museum, London; ZKM, Karlsruhe; Sobering Galerie, Paris; Marrakech Biennale; Guangzhou Live, China; HANGAR, Lisbon; Atelier Gustave, Paris among others. He is an Artist who has received several awards and whose works are in great collections.

[Own commentary]...My son's way of life was a living mirror of mine, his father.
Everything he did, good and bad, was the same as mine. His sleepy face when
he first woke up, his playful and silly appearance, his usual face with a gentle
smile, his angry and uneasy look, his face of pain and helplessness...all of
these expressions were my own life itself. As I was creating this work, I found
myself saying "Thank you, thank you..." over and over again. At the age of 34,
my son said "goodbye" to himself...

My artistry is an exploration of the subconscious, where I explore feelings, memories, and experiences through my art. By using different techniques and materials, I create works that express my inner world in a visual way. My works can be interpreted in different ways, and I encourage the viewer to reflect on their own feelings and thoughts when they see my art. My goal is to create a strong emotional connection between me as an artist and the viewer and to awaken feelings and thoughts that are hidden below the surface. Through my art, I want to express the complexity of human emotions and the beauty that exists in what is difficult to put into words. Krystyna Malinowska was born in Krakow (Poland). In 2011 she graduated from the Department of Painting at cademy of Fine Arts in Krakow. She completed an annex to her diploma in the Artistic Textile Studio. In May 2018, she obtained a PhD degree in the artistic discipline of fine arts at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. In the years 1987 - 1993 she also studied at the Faculty of Law of the Jagiellonian University, where she obtained the title of Master of Laws. She completed 3 multi-month, professional courses related to dyeing fabrics with natural dyes organized by the Textile School in Canada. She is a member of the Association of Polish Artists. She took part in many solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. She practices painting, computer graphics, and also creates a unique fabric in the art batik. She lives and works in Kraków. She says about her painting: The works I present, show my own picture in the sphere of virtual beings. To create my artworks I cut out and take out different fragments of realistic scenes and puts them in my own phantasmagoria. The clue of my artworks is the story of my own. The story enables me to know myself and the story enables to confront me with myself. Due to this confrontation my identity changes.

Contemporary philosophical and psychological thought draws attention to the fact that an individual is a being that is constantly evolving and realizing itself in time, as well as making constant attempts to cross its own boundaries. The basic source of fundamental changes relating to the individual biography of a person is the undertaking of transgressive actions by him. Transgression has a diverse nature, not only psychological, but also axiological. The ambiguous nature of man and his desire to avoid the inevitable mean that actions "outside" can have both positive and negative value. This artwork tries to show a being taking actions "outside", crossing its own boundaries and striving to multiply its own existence. A being can change, become someone or something else. Multiplied, it plays with itself. It takes us to a world where we can feel or not the essence of synergy and essence of coexistence and cooperation. Or maybe this coexistence and cooperation are never completely certain and cannot be precisely defined? Maybe it is just a game of appearances? A multiplied being is a being that has crossed its own boundary. It is no longer able to participate in its own linear world, and is also unable to fully return to the world of nature. It has abandoned everything that stands in the way of its natural expression and in that one moment understood its true subjectivity. The art-work is inspired by the painting by P.P. Rubens "The Three Graces" and the graphic art by E. Haeckel.

Majestic Glacier

Majestic Glacier is part of my ongoing series Disappearing: Glaciers & Icebergs, inspired by my fascination with the structure and impermanence of glaciers. These ancient natural wonders are vanishing before our eyes, melting at unprecedented rates due to climate change. In Switzerland alone, glaciers have lost 10% of their volume in just a few years—a stark symbol of our environmental crisis, driven by rising temperatures and human-induced greenhouse gas emissions. Through this work, I aim to raise awareness of this loss while transforming discarded materials into meaningful art. I weave my tapestries from recycled plastic foil—transparent, white, and blue—which reflects light and enhances shadow, creating a flickering, “wet” glacial surface. The preparation of these materials is an integral part of my process: I flatten, straighten, and cut each piece to size, treating waste as both medium and message. By making the invisible visible, Majestic Glacier invites viewers to witness the fragility of these landscapes and reflect on what we stand to lose. It is a call to consciousness—and a hope that art can awaken action before these frozen giants disappear forever.

I put a perspective on trying to express only the extremely important parts of the image obtained in everyday life from a more true writer's point of view. For me, this contest is extremely useful, creating a very attractive playground for artists: 1- Helping students to access more, learn more about different art backgrounds in the world; 2- This is the motivation for students to be more enthusiastic in creating, to create more cities; 3- This contest also creates healthy competition and allows artists to look back, re-evaluate their level and ability, and from there will try harder in creating art. With the title of the exhibition: The lost center - Art in Crisis" in my opinion, nowadays the art of painting in the world is very developed, there are many different schools, the language of expression is also extremely rich. The mountainous region in late autumn and early winter, when the trees shed all their yellow leaves. Only a bright orange color remains in the Northwest mountains, a mountainous region in the North of Vietnam. The girls in colorful ethnic costumes, carrying baskets on their shoulders, picking fruits, chatting away, created an extremely romantic and charming picture of the mountains and forests. It was that romantic scene that inspired me to paint the picture: "Ripe Fruit Season". In the picture "Ripe Fruit Season", I want to introduce a natural beauty as well as the people of the Northwest. The pure, rustic beauty of young girls in ethnic costumes, carrying rattan baskets on their shoulders, picking ripe persimmons, a product of the Northwest, looming in the distance is the persimmon forest... the colors create a peaceful and romantic scene. A message reminds us: let's preserve nature, preserve the cultural identity of the region that has been preserved and maintained by people for generations.

As an artist, I often work with emotions, memories, and fleeting moments of connection—things that feel increasingly fragile in today’s fast-moving, fragmented world. The theme “The Lost Center” resonates deeply with me, as it reflects the sense of disorientation I observe in both individuals and society —a disconnection from nature, from each other, and even from ourselves. In my work, I try to restore a sense of emotional grounding through color, composition, and rhythm. For example, in “Giao Mùa”, I explore the shift between seasons as a metaphor for inner transformation—a quiet return to empathy, harmony, and presence. I believe that even in crisis, art offers a space for healing, reflection, and reconnection. By participating in BIEAF 2025, I hope to contribute a voice that doesn’t just
illustrate crisis, but gently points toward the possibility of rediscovering what we’ve lost—within ourselves and in the world we share.
Born in 1958 in Hai Duong, Vietnam, I am an interior designer so I pursue my passion for contemporary art. Graduated from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, I am a member of both the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and the Hanoi Fine Arts Association, actively contributing to the rich artistic heritage of Vietnam. Through various exhibitions and prestigious domestic art organizations or some clubs: Vietnam Women Plastic Artists Club, National Construction and Defense Club, I often express my diversity in both traditional and modern art forms. The works, from lacquer to acrylic and oil on canvas, are deeply imbued with cultural nostalgia, emotional depth and historical inner meaning. Notable works such as "Memories of War", depicting the painful memories of war veterans, and "Nostalgia for Hanoi", depicting nostalgia for the homeland, highlight the deep connection between Vietnamese cultural heritage and social stories. The change in color and composition in the work: "Khuc Giao Mua" (The Interchange of Season's) shows the flow and transformation of emotions towards love for people and all things around, showing the passionate excitement of summer, but also the gentle sadness of autumn, where poetry and music can bring people wonderful emotions, allowing us to access harmonious and warm emotions inside, and it can make us feel happy. It can also create a positive world in the mind, helping us relax and recharge in the midst of a busy and tiring life. In this work, I want to express the emotions hidden inside the beautiful chords of colorful and abstract music, in harmony with the soul. My works often explore personal emotions, interests, experiences and inner thoughts - recorded through familiar everyday images and expressed in conceptual form. In *Khuc Giao Mua*, the changing colors and textures represent the flow of emotions and the transformation towards a deeper love for humanity and the world around us. In this work, I want to express the strong vitality of nature combined with love for humanity. Through this work, I hope to evoke a positive mental space - a space that allows us to rest and regenerate amidst the fatigue of daily life. With *Khuc Giao Mua*, I seek to express latent emotions that resonate in beautiful, colorful, and abstract chords of music - where emotions and souls become one. Through this work, I hope to awaken the depth of emotion and imagination in the viewer. My work explores the deep and ambiguous relationship between humans and nature, questioning how the landscape — as a vessel of memory and life — is disfigured by human impact and the progressive erasure of the living. I pay particular attention to natural forms that are both fragile and powerful — vegetal or marine fragments, silent witnesses to the resilience of life.
Through various techniques, I develop an aesthetic of appearance and disappearance. These landscapes are neither imaginary nor realistic, but expressive of our inner states, of our connection to the world. My practice is a quest for harmony through fragmentation. By deconstructing form down to its elemental unit — atom, light, pulse — it is recomposed to reveal the complexity of the natural world — its luminous beauty as well as its vulnerability.
I seek to bring forth a new reading of the living: a listening to the world, a poetics of connection. Color is vibration, a visual symphony linking the microcosm to the macrocosm. It structures space, reveals movement, and conveys states of contemplation, revolt, or resilience. It acts as a breath, a memory, a living force that connects forms and emotions.
For me, creating is an attempt to reattune the human being to their inner and outer landscape, to establish a dialogue between perception, memory, ecological awareness, and invisible forces. It is a reconnection with the idea that we are made of the same matter as the world — and that art can be its sensitive echo.

Lenke Zsuzsánna Felházi was born on March 12,1966, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. In 1997 obtained the graphic artist diploma at the "Ioan Andreescu" Academy of Visual Arts in Cluj-Napoca. Her favorite activities are drawing, painting and singing. She had several individual exhibitions in her hometown and in RO. She participated in group exhibition, in art camps in RO and abroad, and in international Ex-Libris exhibitions in RO, in Hungary, in Serbia and in Italy. She is the curator of the White Gallery from within the Reformed Church from Cluj- Napoca. She is the organizer of art exhibitions.

My main thought here was to open the doors or leave them closed. The outside and inside world, the opening of the spiritual world. Bringing from the depth to the surface the good and the beauty of the world. This would be the goal. Leaving behind bars the wars, the sin, the pain, the misery of humanity, overcoming the corruption and fear. These all should be left behind, this door should remain closed. We should open doors to the feminine beauty and purity. The roses of the pain would be blooming again, turning into more colourful and fragrant flowers. We should strive for the light, happiness, peace and love. I think showing and giving this message to the world is every artists desire.

The painting technique I use originates from the plate-making process learned in printmaking studies. In simple terms, printmaking involves creating marks (which we call images) on various materials, then transferring and reproducing these marks—the printed result is the print, and the mark-making process is plate-making. I dislike the reproduction stage, but some marks are intriguing. This method omits reproduction, preserving scratch engraving and other techniques. Each approach leaves certain traces while eliminating others, with processes of dispersion and integration that evoke familiar shadows yet remain ambiguous. Traces are evidence of existence, and
painting is a reflection of thoughts and feelings (though some interpretations may come from viewers rather than the artist). Although the world is impermanent and all traces will fade, the process of creating them is fascinating. It’s akin to the "was here" inscriptions on scenic spots, where the charm lies not in the landscape or the words themselves, but in the peace of mind that follows the act of marking.
Born in 1979 in Inner Mongolia, China. Graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, China in 2006.

A Paris-based collage artist and mixed media explorer, I create artworks where images and materials interact to tell visual stories. Inspired by my background as an author, I infuse a narrative and poetic dimension into my compositions. Graduated in Art History and trained in leading collage and writing workshops, I have exhibited in France and abroad. My work delves into the complexity of identity and femininity, the echoes of memory, the urgency of ecological and social issues, and the tension between reality and perception. My practice includes paper collages, photography, and natural elements such as feathers and leaves.

In this surrealist-inspired collage, I play on human and animal identities. The little girl represents the future and the other children of our planet. She is photographing the penguin duo and the bird talking to the half-human, halfbear character. In the background, fish are moving in a threatened ocean. The bear woman waits undecidedly, one of the other half-anima, half-human
characters is trying to get out of the water while the other looks towards the clock. The swan, a prophetic bird, representing a visionary figure moving on the water calls out. Behind him, nature is burning. The clock indicates that it is time to react to save our planet if we want our children to live there as adults

I was born in Poland and loved painted in watercolor from childhood. Then, in the school, I painted always with the best results in watercolor then in oil. Now I have lived in Sweden since 1981, in a beautiful little town, nearly the beach and sea. Actually, I painted most in acrylic, and from year 2016, i participated in different exhibitions internationally. Right now, I am a recognized International Artist, invited also to the Televisions Art program, in Italy, Austria, and Egypt. Then I participate with Gallery Ilcollezionista/ Television in ITALY and with Sun Boats Exhibitions/Television in Egypt. My art has been shown in 20 countries. Including Japan; TOKYO/Art Fair. I was too Brand Ambassador to QIAF, Qatar International Art Festival in the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. I am President of ZERVAS ART KLUBB, International Organization in Greece. I also collaborate with other organizers in Korea, Tunis, Egypt, and Italy. I got many Art Awards and Trophys. In the year 2025/2026, I participated in Italy important art exclusive BOK: ATLANTE DELL'ARTE CONTEMPORANEA, which also represented my Art in MoMA Museum.

Linchen,Chung-Hsun(林陳忠勳) was born in Taichung,Taiwan. He has taught at both public and private universities in Taiwan for over 20 years and has more than 40 years of experience in painting. He is currently an assistant professor at the Center for General Education at Feng Chia University, which is recognized as one of the leading universities in Taiwan. Relevant works have been featured in prominent media outlets and news platforms in Taiwan. Additionally, there have been design collaborations with renowned brands, publications, and cultural and creative products.
He loves the tension and creative freedom of Western painting and has deepened his unique style, interacting with the global art world. In addition, he is also good at ink figure painting, developing a contemporary ink painting style characterized by fluid artistic expression and visual innovation.
Linchen, Chung-Hsun(林陳忠勳) has actively participated in large group exhibitions and solo exhibitions both domestically and internationally. He supports environmental protection, peace initiatives, public welfare, and various artistic activities. Additionally, he engages in diverse performance formats, including music projection exhibitions and multimedia art displays. His artistic journey has paved a path for growth and progress through continuous challenges and personal breakthroughs.

As a young artist, I see The Lost Center – Art in Crisis as both a question and a call. This theme feels urgent, not just politically or scientifically, but emotionally. The climate crisis is often talked about in numbers, but it is also about grief, memory, and the fear of disconnection from nature, from each other, and even from ourselves.
In my practice, I explore the world through a child’s lens, where small changes feel immense. This perspective allows me to approach the climate crisis not as a distant issue, but as something that touches the emotional core of identity and belonging.
I hope to contribute to BIEAF2025 with a message: that paying attention still matters, and that even small acts of seeing can be a form of resistance.
Linh Dan Mai, born in 2003, is a fourth-year student at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts. She is currently working as an illustrator and art tour guide, and is also a member of the Vietnam Women Artists Association. Linh Dan has participated in several exhibitions both in Vietnam and abroad. Her previous shows include The Charm of Beijing by the Asian Artist Association (Beijing, China), the Innopraktika Project (Saint Petersburg, Russia), and 4 group exhibitions in Hanoi. Upcoming exhibitions include Flourishing Prosperity (Singapore) and the Korea–Vietnam Art Exchange Exhibition in Vietnam. Her artistic work explores the world through a child’s point of view. Through art, Linh Dan aims to create spaces for quiet reflection, where viewers can reconnect with their own memories and questions of identity. She sees art as a tool for observation and connection between individuals, across generations, and across cultures.
After the bloom

In this painting, I wanted to explore the unsettling space between innocence and artificiality. The girl on the stage stands on synthetic grass, holding a bouquet of balloon flowers. I wanted her curiosity to feel natural, but her surroundings to feel entirely constructed.
To me, this work is not about environmental destruction, but about substitution. We’re not only losing nature, we’re replacing it with prettier, safer, more controlled versions. Balloon bouquets instead of real flowers. Artificial lawns instead of living ecosystems. Sustainability slogans instead of real changes.
The girl represents a generation born into this reality. She hasn’t chosen it, but it shapes her. And I worry that what we’re offering future generation is a version of the world that has been flattened and polished.
However, she holds her bouquet like a weapon. She is not just shaped by this world, she resists it She stands with a kind of resistance. In her stillness, there’s a question: What now?
