Tell us about BIEAF2026 'From Sun To Boy' :

(The Boy Who Holds the Sun)
Special Printing on Watercolor Paper
594x841mm 2026

Bok [福]: Layered Abstraction from the Five Directions
Steel 78 × 55 × 0.3 cm (Thickness: 3 mm) 2024
Park Jonggab’s Sabangseo (Writing of the Four Directions) transforms Hangulfrom a system of language into a visual and spatial art form by layeringcharacters from the four cardinal directions. As linguistic meaning isdeconstructed, writing becomes image, rhythm, and abstract form. Rooted inthe traditions of East Asian calligraphy while embracing contemporarypainting and sculpture, Sabangseo explores the dynamic relationships amonglanguage, perception, space, and material. Through brushwork, layeredstructures, and spatial expansion, the work creates a new visual language thatbridges text, abstraction, and installation, inviting viewers to experiencelanguage beyond words.

Tell us about BIEAF2026 'From Sun To Boy' :
In "Winter in Stockholm", I relate to the theme "From Sun to Boy" through thequiet dialogue between light, nature and human presence. Although no figureappears in the image, the building emerging behind the bare winter treessuggests the enduring relationship between people and their environment. The weak Nordic sunlight, filtered through the branches, becomes a symbol oftime, transformation and continuity. For me, the journey from the sun to theboy represents the passage from nature to human experience, reminding usthat we remain part of a larger cycle that connects landscape, memory andlife.

Film photography 40 x 60 cm 2025
Bare trees weave a delicate lattice before a silent building, suspended in themuted light of a Nordic winter. The film photograph enhances the sense oftime standing still, as if the landscape were breathing in quiet anticipation.Among branches and shadows, the structure emerges as a persistentpresence, bearing witness to a season that strips the world down to its mostintimate essence.

JOY MATHEW
India
Hello, I am Joy Mathew, a contemporary artist from India. My work honoursthe wisdom and resilience of nature, inviting a deeper reverence for thenatural world and our role as its stewards. Through my distinctive ROCK-ARTstyle, I seek to evoke nature's timeless spirit and enduring strength.
Description of the work :
Existence:The painting centers the harsh rays of the scorching sun setting the thorny, pebbled paths ablaze. Every day, thousands of women and children traversethese paths gathering wood, loading rocks and carrying them on theirdrooping shoulders. The bamboo groves stand resilient and form a canopy as ifshielding them from the harshness of life, yet it shows them what they do tokeep surviving. No matter the path they choose, only resilience can get youthere. And the bamboo is a testimony of this fact. But the bamboo alsoteaches one more thing: growing aggressively does not have to meansuppressing others, for each bamboo knows that together they are aformidable force to behold and a lesson in resilience and community.
